DSiWare, WiiWare: EU Nintendo Update - Reflect Missile, Mighty Flip Champs, Rabbids Lab And More

flipreflect.jpg

While the majority of releases are on WiiWare this week, it's DSiWare that wins out of pure quality. DSiWare gets two released - Mighty Flip Champs, the quality puzzler from WayForward, and Reflect Missile, the new title from Q-Games that we only revealed, well, two days ago.

I'd just like to take a moment to say that how Nintendo has been dealing with their WiiWare and DSiWare releases is incredibly asinine. You have Q-Games, one of the most popular independent developers around, create a game for you, and you can't even be bothered to tell anyone? You wonder why WiiWare isn't doing so hot, maybe it's because you're not putting in the effort to actually tell anyone what the good games are?

It doesn't take a whole lot of effort - hell, websites like GamerBytes or NintendoLife are practically desperate for news on WiiWare and DSiWare games - just look at how many stories we write based on rating boards showing new games. You're at a point where people want to give you coverage, and you're not allowing us to.

Anyway, there are a few tiny screenshots available - hopefully we'll discuss the game some more when either Nintendo releases a trailer, or someone does some impressions online.

WiiWare gets 4 new releases - Copter Crisis, Dragon Master Spell Caster, Rabbits Lab - a standalone version of the internal Wii Remote game from Rabbids Go Home, and straight-up Solitare. Your Virtual Console release is Shanghai II: Dragon's Eye, a Mahjong game.

XBLA: Taito's QIX++ Out Next Week

QIX_015.jpg

Sure, we've been talking about it for a while now without an official announcement, but now QIX++ has finally been confirmed, and will be out next week.

The game includes classix QIX gameplay alongside an online multiplayer mode, and will retail for 800 Microsoft Points. I'd bet there's a WiiWare version coming too.

DSiWare, WiiWare: NA Nintendo Update - Bookworm, Monkey Island Episode 4, MyZoo And More

bookwormdsi.png

Good news for Nintendo fans - you've got at least one quality product coming to both DSiWare and WiiWare this week.

WiiWare headlines with Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 4, along with Hudson's MyZoo, Copter Crisis and Christmas Clix, followed by the Virtual Console releases of The Combatribes, a game I had honestly never heard of before, and the Arcade version of Solomon's Key.

DSiWare headlines with the DSiWare version of Bookworm from PopCap Games, followed by Foto Face, another Master of Illusion Express game and Sudoku Challenge.

DSiWare: Game & Watch DSiWare Coming To The West

gandwatch.png

Back in July Nintendo released 9 classic Game & Watch titles separately on Nintendo DSiWare. Now with an Aussie COB rating, we can now reveal the game is coming to the West.

In Japan Nintendo released these Game & Watch titles through July and August for just 200 Points each, each being a direct port of the original game. Those released include: Ball, Flagman, Vermin, Judge, Helmet, Chef, Donkey Kong Jr., Mario’s Cement Factory and Manhole. Surprisingly none of them were based off any of the dual screen titles, but with 51 G&W games yet to be made into DSiWare products, we probably won't have to wait long.

DSiWare: Trailer: Save The Turtles (Sabarasa Entertainment)

Save The Turtles is a new cute puzzler coming to DSiWare via Sabarasa, who you may know from Mazes of Fate, a first-person RPG for the Nintendo DS.

Save The Turtles is a quirky take on the matching gems formula - instead based on newly born turtles. You must hatch the turtle's eggs and lead them into colored lines before the tide comes in. Create combos and aim for the high score over 32 levels while unlocking medals and trophies.

The game has been rated by the German USK rating system and now with the trailer out there I would imagine its not too far from release.

PSN Minis: Monopoly Coming To The PSP

monopolypsp.jpg

While EA developed Monopoly for a variety of platforms last year, the PSP missed out. Now it appears the PSP will finally get a version, and it looks like it will be a download only affair.

Both the German USK and ESRB rating systems have had Monopoly PSP pop up over the past month despite no prior announcement by EA. The ESRB states that it supports up to four players to play - but whether this is pass 'n play (therefore, a PSP mini) or allow WiFi multiplayer (therefore, PlayStation Network exclusive) is unknown.

Considering neither the Xbox 360, PS3 or iPhone versions had any sort of online multiplayer, I would not expect it to pop up here at all. If anything it'll be based off of one of the two iPhone version currently available.

Expect to here more about the game in the next few weeks.

XBLA: This Week On XBLA - Call Of Duty Classic, Cheap Sonic 2

codsonci2.jpg

While those with Modern Warfare 2 have been playing it for a while now, regular Xbox Live Arcade players will be able to pick up Call Of Duty Classic This week for 1200 Microsoft Points.

Alongside that, the classic Sonic 2 is on special this week for Xbox Live Gold members. You can grab it for 240MSP - 30% off the regular price. This is the first $5 game deal of the week we've had, so give it a download now.

PSN, XBLA: Footage: A New Look At Fret Nice

Tecmo are currently making the rounds showing off their upcoming downloadable goods, and the one to look out for is Fret Nice - a platformer made for the Guitar controller.

The above video takes a look at the first level where you must riff your guitar against the evil hairball enemies. The two other trailers seen below show off the madcap cooperative mode.

Fret Nice is developed by Pieces Interactive, and is set to be released around the end of February next year.

DSiWare: Ratings Reveal: VT Tennis (Virtual Toys)

vttennis.jpg

DSiWare continues to be revealed through the ESRB, now with VT Tennis coming via Virtual Toys Inc.

Virtual Toys previously released Rafa Nadal Tennis for the Nintendo DS and iPhone, neither doing particularly well with critics. This Tennis game has you create your own player where you can advance through a "Tennis School" and compete in championships.

Hopefully Virtual Toys will man up a little and release a solid Tennis game, but don't keep your hopes up.

WiiWare: Ratings Reveal: Mr. Bumblebee - Racing Champion

bumbblebeeracing.jpg

You can add one more obscure iPhone game to the WiiWare list - The USK reveals Mr. Bumblebee - Racing Champion is coming to the Wii.

The game is a very simple 3D racing game involving bugs - a Bumblebee, Mosquito, Butterly and a Ladybug. The iPhone version included 4 tracks and a couple of weapons to use at your disposal.

Just based on the iPhone version I wouldn't expect much from a Wii version - the iPhone version looks pretty dull and included no multiplayer, but as we've not seen anything of the WiiWare version it all might change - just don't hold your breath.

XBLA: A Kingdom For Keflings DLC Out Next Week

keflingdlc.jpg

Just over a year since its release, A Kingdom Of Keflings is finally getting some downloadable content, in the way of new Kingdoms to develop and create.

Kingdom Pack 1 is the Orchard Kingdom, which includes some interesting twists on the classic Kingdom with new tweaks to the games' pacing. Kingdom Pack 2 includes the Relic Kingdom, where your giant will have to explore every inch of the map, and is made for the more advanced player.

You can check out the screenshots here. The DLC will be available December 9th, so if you haven't touched Keflings in a while, now might be the time to jump back in. Based on our Leaderboard data it's been going pretty strong since release, so you'll probably still find an online partner to play with too.

DSiWare: Ratings Reveal: Me & My Dogs, Miami Nights To DSiWare

dognights.png

Gameloft have been a big supporter of DSiWare, and they're not stopping anytime soon as the ESRB reveals two new, somewhat casual titles

Miami Nights: Life in the Spotlight! is a part of a long line of DS and mobile titles that have also installments in New York and Paris. Unlike the previous retail outing on DS, this will be a 2D affair where you have to climb the social ranks, chase skirt and hold your liquor. Check out this iPhone trailer of New York Nights for a good idea on what you'll be in for.

You may be already rolling your eyes at Me & My Dogs, no doubt it'll take your standard Nintendog / Petz style of gameplay and bring it to DSiWare. The interesting bit is that this is Gameloft's first foray into the cat and dog business by themselves - the last time they touched one was on regular mobile phones with Ubisoft's Petz series. So expect to see Me & My Dogs to pop up on every platform imaginable.

XBLA: XBLA Update - Call Of Duty Classic, , Free Star Trek DAC Expansion Cheap Sonic 2

cosxblaupdate.jpg

If you didn't pick up Call of Duty Classic when you grabbed Modern Warfare 2, you can now grab it for just 1200 Microsoft Points. Add it to your download queue here.

Surprise update to Star Trek DAC, a game which came out some 6 months ago - a huge, 298MB expansion pack has become available for free. This is actually double the size of the original game! It adds new single-player survival mode challenges, two new playable ship classes, new maps, pickups, customizable options, and more. Download it for free here.

DSiWare: Ratings Reveal: Q-Games Star Ship Patrol To DSiWare

starshippatrol.jpg

Q-Games Reflect Missile was released last week without any sort of hype around it, but now it appears that it's only the first of several DSiWare titles coming from the company.

The Australian COB has now rated Star Ship Patrol, published by Nintendo and developed by Q-Games. Just like Reflect Missile we've got no idea about it, and likely we won't hear a peep until its release. I would expect it to hit Europe in about a week or two.

Dear Nintendo,

It would be really nice if we were able to actually know what this game is before its released. You've got a quality developer like Q-Games developing DSiWare for you, you should be shouting it from the mountain top.

Sincerely,

Ryan Langley

PSN: PixelJunk Shooter Out Next Week

shooterout.jpg

Q-Games' next installment of the PixelJunk series has finally got a date

After what seems like forever, PixelJunk Shooter will be available next week, Thursday 10th, for what appears to be $9.99. The game will be available on both American and European stores, though a demo will not drop day-and-date with the full game.

There are already a few reviews around, all giving very nice scores - the only complaint being the games' length. Still, it will be a game to look out for.

PSN, XBLA: Climb to the Top of the Castle Wins Second 2Bee Competition

2BeeGames second Indie Games competition has ended with TwO Bros.Games taking the first prize with their action platformer Climb to the Top of the Castle.

They go home with the $10,000 grand prize and a publishing contract with Zoo Games. The winner of the first competition Auditorium is currently set for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PSP minis and as this is a HD platformer we can expect it to come to one of the two HD platforms sometime in the future

The second place winner, Vector Conflict: The Siege , received $5,000, though its chance to get picked up for publishing is probably a little more limited given the style of game.

Unlike Auditorium, Climb to the Top of the Castle is a much more ambitious game graphically, and will likely take a lot longer to come out. Still, looks pretty fun - lets see how good it holds up in a year or two.

PSN, PSN Minis: EU PSN Store Update - Peter Pan, Stand O’ Food

peterpan.jpg

Very slow week for those in Europe - a PSOne game, two PSP games and a PSN Demo.

The single PSOne release is Peter Pan: Adventures in Neverland, further proving that only Disney Interactive cares about PSOne classics. You can grab that for £3.99 / €4.99.

The PSP mini this week is Stand O’Food, a strange mix of Diner Dash and Root Beer Tapper that's previously been available for the iPhone and PC.You can find more about it here, where you can view a trailer of it in action. That's £3.99 / €4.99

The second PSP game is Elemental Monsters, also known as Creature Defense in the US. It's a desktop tower defense game from Hudson which looks alright. That's a bit more expensive at £6.29 / €7.99.

And finally you can get a demo for Topatoi on the PlayStation Network, as well as a few special deals lasting for the next two weeks - SOCOM Confrontation was £19.99 / €29.99, now £14.99 / €19.99, The Last Guy was £6.29 / €7.99, now £3.99 / €4.99, and Dark Mist was – £6.29 / €7.99, and is now £3.99 / €4.99.

DSiWare, WiiWare: EU Nintendo Update - Earthworm Jim 2, Mahjong And More

welldone.jpg

There's a lot of games out for Europeans this week on WiiWare and DSiWare, but how many you'll actually be interested in will probably be pretty low.

WiiWare brings Mahjong - the classic board game and Happy Holidays: Christmas - a way to send digital cards to wii friends. DSiWare brings Just SING! Christmas Songs - where you... well, sing Christmas songs, Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes, myNotebook: Red and A Little Bit of… Magic Made Fun: Matchmaker. A mixed bag of pretty dull sounding games.

The winner this week is Earthworm Jim 2, the sequel to the classic platformer now available on Virtual Console. I could never pass that isometric flying level as a kid, maybe now I'll finally finish this game.

PSN, PSN Minis: NA PSN Store Update: Call Of Duty Classic, C&C: Red Alert Retaliation, Resident Evil 3, Beta Bloc And More

retaliation.jpg

Much like the Xbox Live Arcade this week, the PlayStation Store has received Call Of Duty Classic, the original 2003 shooter from Inifnity Ward.

Alongside that are two new PSOne Classics - Command & Conquer: Red Alert Retaliation, a compilation of the two Red Alert PC expansion packs, and Resident Evil 3.

For PSP minis (and small PSP games) fans are Beta Bloc, a brick breaking game, and Super Pocket Tennis, a tennis game which you can play with up to 4 players.

XBLA: New Footage: Cletus Clay (Tuna)

It takes quite a bit of time to develop anything in clay - even harder when you're making a video game out of it, but Tunasnax and Anthony Flack are hard at work and decided to show off a little bit of gameplay footage.

The gameplay is early - no sound effects at the moment, but it is the first HD footage of the game. The original trailer was essentially test only, with the clay models all done in standard definition.

Still looks like fun, and this shows off the cooperative play too.
