XBLA: Capsized Coming To Xbox 360

The two-man team at Alientrap Software have announced their next project Capsized will be coming to the Xbox 360 in 2010.

This side scrolling platformer has a unique artstyle and setting, and will including numerous shooting and physics based puzzles along the ride. The game reminds me of the old Metroid games with a bit of Xbox Live Indie Games' Weapon Of Choice
with a dash of Halloween Harry / Alien Carnage.

Currently the game is being developed on the XNA platform, so it will likely appear on the XBL Indie Games, but the developer is currently looking to get through the Xbox Live approval process before turning to it.

PSN: Calling All Cars Calling It Quits Online

caccalling.jpg

A new update to Calling All Cars reveals that the online mode will be taken down early next year.

The game, created by David Jaffe's Incognito Entertainment, was one of the first PSN games to become available. It sported some simple-yet-challenging gameplay where you captured crooks and brought them back to the station without losing them. It was also one of the few PSN games to take full advantage of the online abilities on the console.

On the 14th of January 2010 the servers will come down. The game has probably not seen a lot of online action in the past year which is a little dissapointing, but it will still be available and still be playable with local multiplayer.

Now to figure out just what Jaffe's team are actually working on now. Perhaps they'll have a new game out by that time? I'm dreaming, I know.

Fluffy Logic, via the PlayStation Blog, have revealed that their PSN title Savage Moon will be getting its own new campaign on the PSP.

Savage Moon: The Hera Campaign will include 20 brand new levels with two new species of Insectocyte to deal with, and a Vengeance variant mode of each level.

This PSP specific version of the game will likely be a PlayStation Network exclusive title, and for the most part looks pretty good. Hopefully we'll see some video of it in action soon.

PSN, XBLA: Toki To Go Ape Spit On Xbox Live Arcade?

Golgoth Studios have taken it upon themselves to recreate Toki, a classic 1989 arcade game and one nobody expected to make a return.

The original game, made by the now-defunct TAD Corporation, followed Toki, a man-turned-ape with the ability to spit a variety of Flem at enemies - a mixture of platforming and shmup gameplay which was not very relevant back in that decade.

The game hasn't particularly aged well graphics wise, so Golgoth Studios have upped the ante by giving the game a complete makeover, which looks spectacular. I'm not quite convinced that a straight remake is the answer, but we'll see if the developer decided to change things up a bit and improve on the original.

The game is currently looking to come to the PC and the Xbox Live Arcade, however the game has not been given the green light for XBLA just yet, so if it doesn't get the go-ahead it may appear on other platforms. We'll hopefully hear the official word soon.

PSN, XBLA: First Footage Of Matt Hazard: Blood Bath & Beyond

On this week's episode of GameTrailers TV, aside from the BioShock 2 coverage, they showed off the first footage of Matt Hazard's XBLA and PSN game - and it looks a lot like Shadow Complex.

It's your side scrolling run-and-gun gameplay, but more levels based than Shadow Complex's giant map. Each level is set to draw 'inspiration' from games like Mario and Mirror's Edge, while at the same time have you mow down legions of Canadian Mounties and Sailors in Short Shorts.

Sounds good.
