XBLA: New Actual Screenshots of King Of Fighters: SkyStage

kofskynew.jpg

Famitsu have revealed the first true screenshots of King of Fighters: SkyStage, the game that mixes King of Fighter characters with... vertical shmups. It's so crazy that it just might work!

When it was revealed back in April the press release came with screenshots with nothing but elaborate effects in the background, but these new screens show off a new logo, new HUD and the actual stages. A train yard! Never seen one of those before in a top-down shooter, but I'm being overly cynical.

The game's arcade version will be showed at the Japan AM show between the 17th and 19th of September. Hopefully we'll hear more about it soon, along with some news on that Metal Slug 7 port.

I remember playing an old arcade vertical shmup called ESP Ra.De., and that worked pretty well. :)

i'm ok having characters instead of ships (see the Tohou serie) but this game still looks very ugly....

I also play ESP Ra.De, infact I play it almost everyday. I don't think this game will even touch that game, but I guess we will see, the graphics don't look as good either.

Game looks alright. Graphics look fine. Especially for a shmup. This is no different than any other game where you control a character (shiki, otemedius, gunbird, etc). Looks like it has some promise.
