Earlier this week Famitsu Magazine officially revealed RayStorm HD, the high definition remake of Taito's classic PSOne shooter. Today the first trailer for the game has been made available.

While we originally revealed it as an Xbox Live Arcade release, it will also be coming to the PlayStation Network, marking the very first Taito-made digital release to come to the PlayStation 3.

Check out the trailer in the above video, or check out the original story here.

WiiWare: Mouse House WiiWare Bound

The latest ESRB update s have revealed that iPhone game Mouse House will be coming to WiiWare, via developer Plaid World Studios and publisher Big John Games.

Mouse House is a game similar to old classics like Adventures of Lolo and Chip's Challenge, as a little mouse you have to collect the cheese in each room to unlock the door - requiring players to shoot enemies with fireballs or push objects out of the way.

The iPhone version was released back in October 2008, you can check out the free and full version of the game here. The developer has been quite open about how the iPhone version has sold, releasing a lot of sales data on their blog and spoken about their WiiWare development for the game.

The game should be out before the end of 2009.

XBLA: Weekend Fun: What If Shadow Complex Was a Jazz Jackrabbit Game?

jazz1.jpg

I'm a big fan of old platformers, games like Mario, Sonic and all the other funny-cartoon-animal games from the Sega Megadrive and Super Nintendo days, but I also had a soft spot for games made by Apogee and Epic Megagames on the PC - specifically Jazz Jackrabbit.

After completing Shadow Complex I had a strange though - man, this would make a pretty cool Jazz game. It's got the variety of weapons, the simple "kidnap girl" plot, all it needed was a little green space bunny - it doesn't matter if the levels are more Metroid than Sonic.

For a laugh I grabbed some sprites from Jazz 1 & 2 and chucked them into a few Shadow Complex screenshots. Makes me want it more, really. Obviously Shadow Complex was in development before Epic bought them up, but I'd love to see Jazz make his way to a console someday!

Aside from the ability to change the season, Toku will now be able to swim and create cyclones to pick up rocks and break through walls. The developers have heard the many cries of people saying the first game was too short, and intend to extend the life of this sequel.

XBLA: NinjaBee's Ancients Of Ooga Announced

Ooga.JPGNinjaBee's 'spiritual successor' to Cloning Clyde, Ancients of Ooga, has been announced. Unfortunately, all that has been revealed is this single piece of concept art you see before you.

The game is being developed by NinjaBee and J. Kenworthy Entertainment - the latter being a new studio created by the original creator and director of Cloning Clyde. “Although Ancients of Ooga is not a sequel to Cloning Clyde, it is what we like to call a spiritual successor because of how heavy an influence Cloning Clyde had on its creation", says John Nielson, founder of J. Kenworthy Entertainment. "Just like Cloning Clyde, Ancients of Ooga is going to bring originality, humor, its own unique artistic style, and extremely creative gameplay to Xbox Live Arcade.”

No release date has been announced fo Ancients of Ooga, but I would expect it to pop up sometime next year.

XBLA: Spelunky Coming To XBLA

spelunkyxbla.png

The developers behind Indie darling Spelunky have revealed with their new website that the game will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade.

The game will not be a direct port however, it will contain new graphics and audio alongside other new features. Whether it will keep its very low resolution style is currently unknown.

Spelunky is a 2D sidescrolling platformer taking place inside caverns with procedurally created levels. It's known for being quite difficult, so it'll be interesting to see if they change the game to be a little easier, or have check points.

Check out this video of the PC version. It's great to finally see developer Derek Yu make it to console distribution after games like I'm O.K. and Aquaria staying in the world of PC games.

If you'd like to check out the PC version of the game, click here. Spelunky is set to be on XBLA in 2010.

PSN, WiiWare, XBLA: Bonk: Brink of Extinction Coming To All Consoles

bonkxblapsnwiiw.jpg
Videoman over at NeoGAF was snooping around Hudson Entertainment's website and, through some URL manipulation happened upon a page for Bonk: Brink of Extinction, a new game coming to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare.

Bonk is a long running series that was the Turbografx's mascot. Also known as B.C Kid in some countries, he made his way to GameBoy and the Super Nintendo, and then outside of a Japanese only Gamecube remake he's done nothing - until now.

Bonk will follow the caveman with a giant head as he attempts to save the planet from a giant meteor. It is a brand new sidecrolling adventure, but will also contain online cooperative multiplayer (Bonk Girl possibly?). While it is not stated at all, since it is coming out for all 3 platforms I suspect it's being made by Backbone Entertainment. [Ed note: The game is actually being developed by Pi Studios, the people behind Quake Arena Arcade]

You can check out the screenshots of the game here. The game's looking pretty good - very cartoony and keeping to the games' roots. As long as he doesn't look like some of the Bonk box art I'm happy with it.

Bonk: Brink Of Destruction is set for release in 2010.

PSN, WiiWare, XBLA: Bomberman Live: Battlefest Coming To All Consoles

bmliveallsystems.jpg
Just like Bonk, Videoman over at NeoGAF was snooping around Hudson Entertainment's website and, through some URL manipulation happened upon a page for Bomberman Live: Battlefest, a new game coming to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare.

Bomberman Battlefest will feature an array of new multiplayer modes not featured in the original Bomberman Live - including Team modes, Capture the Flag, Capture the Crown and Bankroll and will also be 5 new powerups and 18 new costumes. Big ups for the XBLA version which will also allow you to control your avatar was you fight other players.

Despite having new arenas and all... the game looks almost exactly the same as Bomberman Live. You could really mistaken this for the original game with some additional modes. I guess this is the best way to do this, since using DLC like the original did just breaks up the base of players even more.

What it will be is a fairly substantial expansion of the Bomberman Blast on WiiWare, which although very nice looking did not contain the costume collecting that the XBLA version had. I would assume this will also be made by Backbone, while Blast was made by Hudson Japan.

You can check out the screenshots of the game here. The game is expected to be released on XBLA this Winter, with PSN and WiiWare versions in 2010.

Now Hudson, where the hell are the Kangaroos? You can't have a sequel and not have Kangaroos.

PSN: Tozai Brings Irem's Spelunker To The West

Back in March developer Irem released Spelunker HD onto the Japanese PlayStation Store - now 6 months later Tozai have revealed that they will be bringing the game over to the west.

Spelunker HD is a remake of an infamous NES title, now with new graphics and a 6 player online cooperative mode, and you can play the game with new and classic graphics. What will be interesting is to see how Tozai will price the game - it's currently 2,400 yen, or $25USD, on the PlayStation Store. Likely it will follow standard Tozai pricing schemes or $10 to $15 instead.

Tozai will be showing the game off at their booth at the Penny Arcade Expo, alongside R-Type Dimensions and Lode Runner.

PSN, WiiWare, XBLA: Interview: Hudson On Military Madness: Nectaris

milmad.pngHudson Entertainment are starting to ramp up their digital download processes - while previously working on a lot of WiiWare projects, they are now attempting the near impossible - cross-platform development for the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and WiiWare, starting with Military Madness: Nectaris.

We speak with Peter Dassenko, Producer on the project on how this project came to be, and how a cross-platform title like this is developed, including team sizes and development time.

Military Madness: Nectaris will be available on Xbox Live Arcade on the 30th of September 2009, with the PlayStation Network and WiiWare versions to follow shortly after.

WiiWare: BIT.TRIP VOID Sucks You In

Gaijin Games have revealed their 3rd title in the BIT.TRIP series - VOID, a game where YOU are the black hole.

Like BEAT and CORE before it, VOID continues the tradition of colorful, trippy low resolution styling, but instead of controlling a paddle or a line you control a black hole, which you must manipulate its size in order to make your way through each level collecting black pixels and ignoring the white ones.

The game will be playable this week at the Penny Arcade Expo, until then enjoy the trailer.

XBLA: Indie Watch: Halfbrick Rocket Racing, Avatar Golf

avatarracing.jpg

The third game in the Halfbrick Fridays program - Rocket Racing, is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. It's a racing styled game where you have control over the left and right boosters, and need to work your way through the course as quickly as possible.

At first the game is a little difficult, but check out all of the different controller options for the best style for you. I also recommend checking out this video which shows off the wall boosting mechanic, necessary for the game.

You can download the trial version here, the game is currently available for 240MSP ($3), and will be available on PSP minis later this year.

Barkers Crest have released their sequel to their popular XBL Indie Golf Game with Avatar Golf. The game now includes 6 courses, some updated general mechanics, 8 player online and now the ability to play as your very own Avatar.

WiiWare: TOMENA SANNER Defies All Odds, Is Coming Stateside

While America and Europe tend to get the same WiiWare games, Japan is an entirely different ball game. All sorts of just damn weird stuff comes out of there - I mean have you seen Muscle March? It's crazy.

Another game that was just plum weird was Tomena Sanner, a game about some nutjob businessman who must jump on, dance with, or avoid obstacles in his way to reach the end goal within the time limit - like a weird, automatic Adventure Island really.

Well according to the ESRB the game is now coming stateside courtesy of Konami. It's even still being called Tomena Sanner, which means nothing in the English Language. I guess it's just far too Japanese to even warrant an English renaming.

Now that this is coming out, I wonder if Pole's Big Adventure will make it out here somehow.

XBLA: Puzzle Bobble Live! Confirmed, Coming Sept. 30

puzzlebobblexbla.jpg

Japanese website Game Watch have revealed that Puzzle Bubble, aka Bust A Move, will be making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade on September 30th.

The game is essentially the same as Puzzle Bobble Plus! on WiiWare, but now in high definition. The game will consist of 135 seperate puzzle boards, VS modes, and online multiplayer.

Unlike the Wii version, the game will also allow the use of Avatars, but it appears to be the most basic addition possible - just hanging out next to your selected characters, which is kind of dull. I would rather my Avatar be pulling and pushing the level downstairs - this looks quick and dirty.

Anyhow - it's Puzzle Bobble, and if you enjoy that you're in for a treat. The game will also have downloadable content packs down the line, featuring another 135 boards each from previous Puzzle Bobble games, each going for 240MSP ($3).

WiiWare: Pokémon Rumble Coming Stateside

Nintendo have revealed at the Penny Arcade Expo that Melee! Pokémon Scramble, a strange Pokemon WiiWare title in Japan, will be making its way to the States as Pokémon Rumble.

Well of course it was - it's a Pokemon game, isn't it?

Anyhow - the game is very different to what you might be expecting - it's a real time fighting game involving little low-poly clockwork Pokémon. It's a cool concept - certain something you've always wanted to see in a Pokémon title. The game can also pit 4 players against each other in cooperative multiplayer modes.

You can check it out at the Nintendo booth at PAX this weekend.

PSN Minis: Gameshastra Chooses Bit Sized Pricing For PSP Minis

minispricing.jpg

While it's been assumed that software on PSP Minis would be quite low, we have now got a bit of a confirmation from one specific developer, courtesy of GameShastra.

GameShastra is India's largest game development company and are looking to do a lot on the PSP minis service. GameShastra CEO Prakash Ahuja recently spoke to IndianVideoGamer about their prospects on PSP Minis, where they've revealed that they've got 30 games in the pipeline, and that all of Gameshastra's titles will retail for "between $1.50 and $2.50".

With many iPhone developers taking a keen look at the PSP minis program, it's not surprising that these games are priced similarly to that of the iPhone - but this also leads to the possibility that the pricing might take on 50 cent increments, which I believe the iPhone store does not support in the US.

Hopefully all will be revealed during the Penny Arcade Expo or the Tokyo Game Show.

XBLA: Twisted Pixel Reveal Comic Jumper

Although 'Splosion Man is now out and doing well on the Xbox Live Arcade, that's not stopping Twisted Pixel, no sir! At their Penny Arcade Expo booth they have revealed their next title - Comic Jumper: The Adventures Of Captain Smiley.

It's strictly a teaser video - it does not mention any specific platform -but then neither did 'Splosion Man at first. There is no in-game footage, but it looks like it might be 2D like 'Splosion Man, but with weapons.

The game will have Captain Smiley going through many different graphical styles as he jumps from comic book to comic book - some mock-ups make it look like he'll travel through a Powerpuff Girl book at some point, and another being Sin City styled.

It looks alright - I'm not as big of a fan of the character design as I was for 'Splosion Man or The Maw, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully we'll hear more about the game soon.

XBLA: PAX '09 - Shank Footage

Klei Entertainment are out in full force at PAX 2009 with Shank, their upcoming 2D action title, and to celebrate they've released this new trailer.

Klei have been pretty unclear on what this will be coming to - currently it's only "PC" but clearly has Xbox 360 pad support. I imagine they're still working out the dealing with Microsoft or Sony in regards to concept approval.

Keep up to date on Shank at their official blog.
