Wii Points: 800
Game Type: Fighting

"In this zany 2-D fighter, it's just another day for a humble traveling circus troupe when a meteor crash-lands in their camp. The otherworldly orb, made entirely out of interstellar clay, contaminates all the circus employees, turning them into bizarrely superpowered versions of themselves. Choose from among the unique clay creatures, such as Bonker, the cheerfully manic clown, or Blue Suede Goo, the mild-mannered Elvis impersonator turned violent vocalist. Master their “Claytalities,” like the operatic Helga's deadly high note and Bad Mr. Frosty's fists of snowball fury!"

WiiWare: Arkanoid Plus! Goes Live On WiiWare

akrnaoidlive.png

Fresh from the release of Arkanoid Live! on Xbox Live Arcade, Taito have revealed Arkanoid Plus! for WiiWare.

The game appears to be exactly like the Xbox Live Arcade version - 62 different levels across 2 episodes, Vs. modes and cooperative play and the ability to download more episodes through DLC.

It appears that almost all of Taito's titles have now made their way to Xbox Live Arcade and WiiWare - the exceptions being the EXIT series being on XBLA and each service having a respective Space Invaders title. Taito has been a large contributor to the PlayStation Network's list of PSOne classics in Japan but has yet to release anything stateside.

Now that the standard set of Taito classics have been revitalized for digital download it'll be interesting to see if they dig down a little deeper into something more obscure - Darius perhaps? RayForce? New Zealand Story? Or even maybe, just maybe, something new?

Arkanoid Plus! will be released in Japan in a days time, I would expect it to be released sometime this year.

PSN, XBLA: Watchmen Goes Retail In Conjunction With Movie Release

watchmenblu.pngWarner Bros. have revealed, much like we suggested they might, that Watchmen: The End is Nigh will be coming to retail.

For the Xbox 360 you will be able to simply buy both versions on a single disc, however the version available for the PlayStation 3 will be available in a package known as Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience which will not only include The End Is Nigh, but will also include the directors cut Bluray version of the movie.

PSN, XBLA: Inferno Pool This Week To Euro PSN, XBLA Later

Inferno Pool, a Snooker game with a lot of twists, has been revealed to be coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Originally released as an iPhone title, Inferno Pool has your standard snooker modes but tries to mix things up with combos and some strange split-screen mechanics. You're best off just watching the video to figure it all out.

According to the developer's Twitter feed Inferno Pool will be available this week in Europe for the PlayStation Network and will be released in other consoles and territories later this year.

PSN: Get Ready To Shoot In PixelJunk Shooter

3561310599_ab35b36535_b.jpg

Dylan Cuthbert has revealed the final name for their upcoming PixelJunk 1-4 game - PixelJunk Shooter.

It was chosen for its simplicity and simple analysis on what you do in the game. Personally I think it's a fairly boring name, while Monsters and Racers were also simple names Eden had a bit more pizazz to it. I also recall Dylan getting a little riled up some time ago because PixelJunk Racers was put in the Racing category on the PlayStation Network when its technically more of a puzzle game. With a name like Shooter I can imagine similar confusion arising.

Anywho, it's not my game, they can do as they please - it still looks like a fantastic game regardless of the name.

top10april09psn.png[In his regular, in-depth look at PlayStation Network sales data, Ryan Langley of GamerBytes examines the Top 10 selling titles of April 2009, from Rag Doll Kung Fu through Flock and beyond, to find out what flew and what fell to earth.]

While the NPD Group may release retail sales data for North America, at GamerBytes we take a look at what they don’t cover – the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. This time round, GamerBytes has exclusively been given the Top 10 selling PlayStation Network titles in North America for April 2009, information not provided by Sony's Pulse show on PSN this month as normal.

April was privy to three new PSN game releases for digital PlayStation 3 download – Rag Doll Kung Fu, Comet Crash and Flock. In this analysis, we'll look to see how well each title did, see which March games were able to hold on, and determine what trends this downloadable space might be adhering to.

Here's the North American Top 10 for PlayStation Network games on the PS3 for April 2009:

XBLA: Tecmo Bowl Hitting XBLA In 2010

tecmobowl.pngPatrick Klepek of G4TV.com has sussed out of Tecmo that the popular NES American Football title will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade next year.

Speaking to Tecmo about the announcement of Family Fun Football for the Nintendo Wii, Patrick asked about the lack of the previously announced Tecmo Bowl Wii, in which the Tecmo PR responded: "For now, we're focusing on bringing Tecmo Bowl to the Xbox LIVE Arcade [in] early 2010."

This would be Tecmo's first foray into digital downloadable games outside of the Virtual Console, where they did release the first non-NFL licensed Tecmo Bowl. Hopefully this new version will include a facelift and full online integration. Look for more at E3 next week.

PSN, XBLA: Wolfenstein 3D Out Next Week, Whole Sega Vintage Shebang Out June 10th

We've been talking about it for a long time, but today Activision have revealed that Wolfenstien 3D is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network - and it'll be out next week.

The game is complete with all 60 levels of Wolfenstein 3D action, but no price has been suggested. I hope it is 400MSP or $4.99 but since no price has been specified there is a chance that it will be 800MSP, or $9.99.

Sega have also announced that all but one of the lineup for Sega Vintage Volume 2 on XBLA will be appearing a week later on June 10th. That includes Sonic 3, Shinobi, GunStar Heroes, Altered Beast, Comix Zone and Phantasy Star II, while the PlayStation Network will be getting only GunStar Heroes. Sonic & Knuckles will be out later in 2009.
