WiiWare: Squibs Arcade Brings LCD Games To WiiWare

Do you remember the old Tiger handheld games that your parents would buy you? Those incredibly simple Game & Watch styled games based off your favorite franchise which you played when you were just too poor to own a Game Boy? Well you're in luck - you'll be able to play them all over again on WiiWare.
Alten8 media has revealed a brand new project Squibs Arcade, which intends to bring back those memories of LCD game playing to the console. Instead of recreating previous experiences, these games will parody the games of today. You can play Gun Cogs, which looks just a little similar to how Gears Of War might look like as an LCD game or Jack-a-motor, which makes fun of Grand Theft Auto.
Other titles that will be in this collection include Clown, Crowd Wader (Assasins Creed), Button Basher, Fantasy Turn Base, Call of Honour (Call Of Duty),Lots of Levelling, Cardboard Axel Mush (Metal Gear Solid), We're Fat (Wii Fit), and Regret the Fist. So there is quite a bit of content to be made for the collection.
It's certainly an interesting premise, there have been several applications on the iPhone that effectively emulated classic Game & Watch titles too, though the choice of WiiWare seems a little strange - a DSiWare title would perhaps be more interesting for quick play.
Check out the new screenshots of the several different games within (game title) over at Kotaku. The game is currently slated to be released in Q2 of this year, so expect it within the next few months.
Alten8 are planning on several new WiiWare released over the coming year, including Tractor Tom’s Puzzle Farm, which is based on a children's TV show, Eternity's Child, the game by Luc Bernard that is taking an Eternity to be released, Alien Autopsy and more, so keep a look out.
