XBLA: Gridrunner+++ Having Difficulty Making It To XBLA
The people at Llamasoft have been quite busy lately. They're just about to finish up the PC version of Space Giraffe, complete with new levels, and they've been working on Space Invaders Extreme XBLA with some additional Neon-based backgrounds, and of course Gridrunner+++, an expansion of the original Gridrunner and its semi-sequel coming to Xbox Live Arcade. Or is it?
Giles, the man in charge of porting Space Giraffe for PC has been discussing the current situation with Llamasoft projects on their forum, and had this to say about Gridrunner+++:
"About GridRunner+++ well... GR+++ so far IS already completed and [is] working for the 360... but when / if is going to come out for the 360, that's a thing in this moment we really don't know and does not depend on us."
It sounds like Gridrunner is currently in publication limbo, awaiting confirmation for XBLA. It does sound like its still a long way off, or even that Microsoft aren't particularly interested in doing much with it. It should be noted that the game has not appeared on any rating system yet.
Hopefully we'll here some more confirmation soon. While we wait, let's go back and play some Space Giraffe. Check out the video above too, just mind the Donkey.

Space Giraffe's weak sales baffle me. It's a great game and cheap too, so why no love? Guess people just don't do enough acid these days...
Hopefully MS will see the throbbing, psychedelic light and allow GR+++ to elevate our minds to the next level.

This is kind of what's frustrating about controlling release dates to this degree. If anything hyped is coming up, it pushes aside everything else.
I'd prefer that they let these just come out when they're ready. Maybe in that situation it'd be easier for developers/publishers to market their game. How hard must that be when most of them don't even know when it's coming out?
I'm still concerned NXE will not highlight XBLA well or its new releases well. What I've seen so far hasn't convinced me of that... but we'll see.
