XBLA: XBLA This Week is War World - But Where Is Mega Man 9?
Okay, this is quite the bizarre week for Xbox Live Arcade. Capcom had announced Mega Man 9 release dates for WiiWare, PSN and XBLA - and two of them have passed and been true, the final date for the XBLA version was October 1st.
Now MajorNelson and the Gamerscore blog have revealed that only one game will be released this week, and that's War World. War World is its own bizarre beast - a game revealed a long time ago and was meant to come out back in August of 2007 - not mentioned at all until last week when IGN previewed the title. Nice to see it finally show up.
So where's Mega Man 9? Well the Xbox.com splash page is up and it says it's coming out this Wednesday, but without an official announcement it's unclear.
War World is a 3rd person shooter that relies as much on tactics as it does on pure firepower. There are 16 mechanoids to choose from and as with most character selections, each has their special ability. These come in the form of Extreme Speed, High Damage Lasers, Missiles, etc.
There are 100 levels in the single player game with five varying difficulty levels. When you're ready to tackle the multiplayer side, you can choose from 4 game modes: Capture the Flag, Bomb Assault, Death Match and Team Death Match.
War World is rated T for Teen and will cost 800 MS Points.

Maybe the blogs just made a mistake or it's supposed to be a "surprise". Still, it's pretty unusual for them to be releasing two action games on a same week, so I wouldn't be be surprised if MM9 got delayed. I guess we'll see tomorrow.
