XBLA: 'Braid' to Cost 1200 MS Points, 'Castle Crashers' to Cost 1,800 Points?

Summer%20of%20Arcadecom.jpg

Four Japanese websites are now saying that two titles in the upcoming "Summer Of Arcade", 'Castle Crashers' and 'Braid', will be costing a little more than the usual XBLA title.

+D, Dengeki, Famitsu and the official Japanese Xbox.com blog are now saying 'Braid' will cost 1,200 Points, and 'Castle Crashers' will cost an oddly priced 1,800 Points - making it the most expensive XBLA title to date.

While it has not been announced to those of us who speak English, it will comes as a shock to those who have gotten used to paying 800 Points or $10US. Though in all honesty, XBLA and PSN gamers have had it incredibly good for a long time. These titles, had they been on the PC, would have cost at least $20 each. Maybe that time is over.

I think Castle Crashers can get away with it... I don't know about Braid. It certainly looks great, but the general buzz around it on Xbox 360 sites seems to be fairly low. That could be shooting it in the foot.

FYI... The Penny Arcade game also costs $20. While Castle Crashers would technically still be in the most expensive tier of games, it is not alone.

1600 points would be $20, which is what Penny Arcade Adventures costs.

1800 points hasn't actually happened before.

$15 for Braid and $22+ for CC.....sorry, I will pass get the $10 GeoWars 2 and Galaga Legions. That will be two quality games for less than CC.

I just don't see 1800 point game doing outstanding sales. Penny Arcade did ok for a couple weeks but with a higher price tag comes faster weakening sales.

1800 MSP is pretty ridiculous. I wouldn't mind paying 1600 ($20) or 2000 ($25) points, but 1800 ($22.50) isn't cool. There's no reason for that kind of crappy rounding.

Of course, these are based off of the Japanese prices...so maybe the MSP is worth a little differently over there.
