XBLA: 'The Maw' Gets Scored, Musically!

Twisted Pixel has announced today that their first XBLA title - The Maw - will actually have a decent soundtrack!
The Maw soundtrack will be composed by Winifred Phillips, who had previously worked on the recent Speed Racer title and also contributed to the original God Of War soundtrack. The game will contain a "vibrant jazz soundtrack" that will respond to the players actions during play.
Maybe not so much like Dig Dug, but from the sounds of it this might be a good way to get a full soundtrack out of a small file size. It's ambitious, that's for sure.
Along with the press release, Twisted Pixel also released 4 brand new shots of The Maw. Check them out here, or continue reading for the pictures and the full press release.

MADISON, IN – June 24, 2008 – Twisted Pixel Games has announced today that The Maw, the company's first Xbox LIVE® Arcade game, will feature an all-original, interactive soundtrack by Interactive Achievement Award-winning composer Winifred Phillips.Phillips has composed music for such well-known game titles as God of War, Speed Racer, and The Da Vinci Code. For The Maw, Phillips has created a vibrant jazz soundtrack that highlights the progress of the main characters, Frank and Maw, while simultaneously responding to the player's actions as the game unfolds.
"Winifred is a fantastic, top-tier composer with a real vision for how to score interactive content," explained Twisted Pixel's CCO and Director, Josh Bear. "We wanted the music to play an active role in the gameplay by responding to characters and situations, so Winifred provided a brilliant musical blueprint and we implemented her design. She is great to work with and we couldn't be happier with the results!"
"I was tremendously inspired by the personality and charm of The Maw," said Winifred Phillips. "Twisted Pixel has created an exciting and unique game set in a wonderfully bizarre universe populated by lovably zany characters. I enjoyed creating an interactive soundtrack for such a fresh, original project, and I think that the responsiveness of the music helps draw the player more fully into this one-of-a-kind experience."
More information about Twisted Pixel's collaboration with Winifred Phillips on The Maw can be found in the July issue of Play Magazine, page 84.
