PSN, WiiWare, XBLA: 'On the Spot' Previews SFII HD Remix, Homestar Runner

This week in GameSpot's "On The Spot" streaming video show brought three different downloadable games to the table - Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for XBLA and PSN, The original Soulcalibur for XBLA, and Strongbad's Cool Game For Attractive People for Wiiware.

The Street Fighter II HD segment was entirely based on the Beta version that will be released with Wolf Of The Battlefield: Commando 3. However, despite the fact that Commando 3 will be getting released on June 11th - next week - the beta will not be available until the 25th of June - two weeks later.

Once the Beta is available for download, the Beta will be available for 8 weeks - until the 20th of August. Comparatively, the Halo 3 Beta was available for 3 weeks, the Call Of Duty Multiplayer Beta was 4 weeks, and Metal Gear Online was only 2 weeks - so you'll get plenty of play out of this one!

The Beta is limited - you can only play as Ryu or Ken, and you only have one background.

While originally the BETA was exclusively online, it appeared that the fellows over at GameSpot were playing on the same machine, as the second player was "Player1". Apparently this version had some options available, like the original sprites mode. Oddly, the game was played in Full Screen and not Widescreen - hopefully you can change that in the Beta.

[Side note: Poor guys, each question asked by the viewers was straight off anything you could already find on the game, or were repeats of questions already answered by Ricardo Torres. What a waste of good question time.]

On to Strongbad's CGFAP. The game was demoed by Brett Tosti, the producer over at Telltale Games. It shows off a load of new footage of the game, and some of the gags you'll encounter. Unfortunately, everyone is talking over it. Might be a good thing if you don't wish to be spoiled though.

The game has also been pushed back to July for Wiiware, which isn't too bad.

[Side note #2 Let's pay attention people! You just answered that question! Don't get them to answer it again!]

Lastly, the original Soulcalibur was demo-ed, showing off a whole bunch of different locales, including the fact that all 19 characters from the Dreamcast game and the character artwork is unlocked straight away in the version demonstrated.
