: Assault Heroes 2 is your game of the week!

Assault Heroes 2 is your game of the week! It's more crashing, more carnage, and more destructible than before!
Assault Heroes 2 reveals that the original enemy in Assault Heroes is merely a pawn of a more sinister force, which players must now seek out and destroy. Armed with stronger weaponry and the ability to hi-jack more powerful enemy units, players must prepare to face relentless enemies and outrageous bosses in climactic battles, including an all-out skirmish in outer space.

In the sequel, players can experience the full fury of war outside of the safety of their vehicle with even more intense on-foot gameplay, where increased firepower and the new dodge roll feature are necessary to survive. Players can choose to fight alone or battle with a friend using the enhanced two-player cooperative mode. Either way, players will travel through diverse and interactive environments on land and in space to overcome the newest enemy and save mankind.
For those worrying it may now come out everywhere - Sierra is touting that the game will be released everywhere on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (1:00 a.m. PDT).

As well as this, the second trailer showing off the big bosses has shown up! Watch it from the Youtube video above!

: Penny Arcade Episode 1 coming out next week!

Along with todays announcements of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and Viva Pianta: Trouble in Paradise came the update on Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness. While it went gold back last week it was only for PC - but it looks like it's all right and done now too!
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One on Xbox LIVE Arcade provides a first-of-its-kind RPG-Adventure experience based on the popular Web comic. The creative collaboration between Penny Arcade creators Mike 'Gabe' Krahulik and Jerry 'Tycho' Holkins, legendary game designer Ron Gilbert and producers at Hothead Games results in a 100-percent authentic Penny Arcade experience that pushes bizarre characters, outrageous combat and adult humor to the precipice of darkness. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade May 21, 2008.
Good to know, it'll also be released for 1600 Microsoft Points - the most expensive XBLA game to date. Plus the sudden announcement seems like it may have pushed another game or two back a bit as well - People are waiting for Braid, Happy Tree Friends, Commando 3 and BC: Rearmed too! Hopefully it'll be the start of another round of fantastic games, starting with Assault Heroes 2 today.

Along with the announcement was a new video, which you can view at the top of this article. Ignore the "B-Roll" quip - it got released anyhow. Wah-Wah.

: Podwatch - BC Podcast - A slight delay for rearmed!

The latest version of the Bionic Commando Podcast has been released, with Lars Bond - the next-gen games lead animator.

Top Secret File 015: Lars Bonde, Lead Animator

We talk animation and Danish bacon with Lars Bonde, the lead animator at Grin. Find out what turns a mass of polygons into a living character and how cut scenes get made - and in a special update, we'll tell you when you can expect to be playing BCR.
Download the podcast here or join the RSS feed.

That little bit at the end is what you're probably most interested in right now. Here's the deal.

Bionic Commando Rearmed has been delayed a little bit - roughly a month. Ben Judd takes all responsibility for this, claiming he "Did not schedule correctly" as it does take longer for a game to be completely tested and given the okay by all the different territories around the world.

I think it's safe to say that despite his humbled reasonings - we can all blame Sony Europe on being slack - as you may know with Puzzle Fighter HD still not released on the PS3 in Europe. No actual evidence of that, but they seem to cause many problems for developers. They're shooting for June, lets hope it comes out asap! Just let Braid shine a little too, okay?

Also, apparently making themes sucks because each console has different specs and you can't show a gun in a theme available in Germany! Sheesh! Just have one of the blades be the exploding head, I'm sure that's fine!

: New Aces of the Galaxy trailer, possible release date released!

A new trailer was released for Sierra's upcoming space shooter Aces of the Galaxy today. Check it out above, or you can download the trailer here.

An interesting tidbit though - The Gamespress website - which deals with collecting all the game press releases and media - claim that the game is coming out next month - the 11th of June to be exact. Keep an eye out until then.

Looking back at the previous Xbox Live Arcade releases by Sierra, it appears that they're trying to release at least one title a month. With Aces of the Galaxy, Zombie Wranglers, Gin Rummy, Red Baron Arcade.. Maybe Megaforce and The Incredible Machine if their two year old Investor Presentation means anything - they look to keep the XBLA quite healthy. They even mention "12 short session games" in that presentation. Keep it up, Sierra!

: Achievement watch - Happy Tree Friends!

French Xbox 360 Achievement website Succes Full have gotten their hands on the achievement list for Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm!

You can view them by clicking here! And before X360A as well!

Looking at these achievements there is a lot for both 'styles' of game play - getting characters through without taking any or a lot of damage, or taking a whole lot of damage - killing even. It's all part of the show, after all.

The game is filled with different medals depending on how well you go through a level, as well as unlocking the "second part of the movie". Perhaps they dangle the first half of the cartoon as a carrot! Sizzle!

Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm should be popping up shortly. Will it be the game that brings Stainless games out of the pit that is the not-so-good Atari remakes? We'll have to wait and see!

: First Soul Calibur XBLA screenshots!

Gaming-Age have got the scoop on the upcoming Namco XBLA title - Soul Calibur. Check out all the images here!

Here it just looks like a completely straight up port of Soul Calibur from the Dreamcast - which is fine, but it seems nothing else was added. No true wide screen support, same old textures and occasional flat background. It is what it is - but some additional effort would have been nice.

: First trailer for Roogoo!

The first trailer for the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade Puzzler Roogoo has been released! It's got a very nice asthetic, and seems to be filled with additional multiplayer modes too.

: Capcom interviews: Benn Judd & The Rocketmen crew

Website Deeko has a new interview with Bionic Commando Rearmed Producer Ben Judd, which you can view here.

Deeko: Is there any sort of story continuity between both games? And if there is, how are you guys handling the back story so gamers who never played the original don't feel lost?

BEN: Again, I think we've gone a great job of tying everything together. I've always felt that BC was a franchise that needed a deeper world. So we have already put a lot of surplus information on the Bionic Commando community site Bioniccommando.com and we are publishing a serial comic book that shows one of Spencer's most life-altering missions that occurs after Bionic Commando Rearmed and helps set up the tone for the 3D version. A lot of fans of the original have been pretty shocked by how the 3D Spencer looks compared to the original. And trust me, I can TOTALLY see why the fans are. He doesn't look very similar. But there is a rationale for it and there is a back story that I think people will understand once they read it.
As well as this interview, Capcom have made their own interview with A.C.R.O.N.Y.M Games creators Daniel Swadling and Jesse Joudrey about their game and the recent expansion:
How did you come up with the name “It Came From Uranus” for the Rocketmen expansion?

JY: About an hour after a spicy takeout meal, the name just came to us.

FS: Actually, it was forced on us by the evil people at Capcom marketing, who thought the name would appeal to juvenile boys (our largest target demographic)

JJ: We wanted to call it something serious. But that just wouldn’t be acceptable.
You can check out that interview here.

: Accidental announcement - Housemarque's Golf: Tee it up!

Team Xbox have accidentily released the very first screenshots for an upcoming XBLA title - Golf: Tee it up!

From what we can see from the shots - the game looks absolutely fantastic, with green hills and fantastic choices for colour - it could be the best looking game on the Xbox Live Arcade!

And why shouldn't it - according to the Team Xbox website, the game is being developed by Housemarque - better known for the graphical splendor that is Super Stardust HD on the Playstation Network! It's being published by Activision as well, their only other title being Vigilante 8 Arcade and previously DOOM.

The announcement, we can assume, is next week - so look out for it. In the meantime, check out all the brand new pictures at Team Xbox, or if they take them down, there is a backup of them available here! Can't wait!

Big thanks to user Chagrin for the tip!

: Vigilante 8 Arcade - New level and character announced!

in this weeks update for Vigilante 8 Arcade comes a new level - Ski Resort! Making its regular appearance in the series (with Ski Lodge & Winter Games being in the previous games), Ski Resort...

... features authentic ’70s architecture, two lifts, a teleporting lodge, a very slippery ice-skating rink, ski jump tower, and the now legendary avalanches.
The Ski levels were always a blast back in Vigilante 8 - they've been very vertical levels and this one looks no different. Fly off those jumps and crushing your pals.

Click here to see images of Ski Resort!

Along with the level is another player - Dave and his Groovan!

Meet Dave - an adventurous hippie who also happens to be enamored with UFOs. In fact, Dave claims to have been recruited by an extraterrestrial to help locate his ship hijacked from Area-51 by the Coyotes. Until the craft is found, peace will have to wait…
UFOs? Maybe we'll see the return of "Y" and "Secret Base" too...
